The Indus and Ganges River, were ideal locations for settlement for many reasons. First of all, they were both sources of water which were key to human survival or else, we'd be come dehydrated. Flooding of rivers also causes the water to be very fertile which is good for farming. Farming allows the settlers to develop a stable food supply. Rivers can also be use as water highways that can transport goods and people up or downstream.
