A long time ago there was said to be a sacred golden apple.  It was said that if you ate it you would have magical powers.  There were many greedy people who wanted the apple, but the society of fairies, witches, wizards, gnomes and so on from a magical world, fought to keep the apple hidden.  But one day someone would find it according to the prophecy.

Hi, I'm Madison.  I'm a 19 year old girl from the rural town of Salmania.   It was 7 A.M. and I was sitting at my mothers bakery.

"Honey, come help me make the marzipan animals for the pet show," my mom yelled from the kitchen.

"Sure," I said getting up and walking to the kitchen.

I found my mom in the kitchen.  I started kneading the marzipan till it was nice and soft.  I made 3 balls.  the largest was orange the middle one was pink and the smallest was white.  I use the orange to make animal bodies, the pink for the nose and collar and the white for the eyes.  Once I finished with the shaping i got some food coloring and toothpicks to make smaller details like pupils and whiskers.  At the end I made an army of marzipan animals.

"Honey, can you go sell them on Bakers St.," she asked.

"Sure," I replied.

I grabbed a rolling table and started up a tall hill to Bakers St.  I was panting once I got to the top.  I leaned onto the table and it suddenly went rolling down the hill.  As the table rolled I tumbled behind it.  I went faster and faster.  My back ached from rolling but there seemed to be something magical happening.  I felt like I was in the eye of a tornado.  A wind seemed to blow around me.  It might have just been me but I also heard a soft music and singing.  I started to get drowsier and drowsier.  BAM!  I thought I had fallen to the hard dirt ground but the ground smelled of sweet poppies.  As I opened my eyes I saw a little human so small and dainty.

"She opened her eyes," It shouted in a dainty voice.

I started to sit up when I saw a  group of people crowded around me.  Some of them were as tall as my hand, some looked like the garden gnomes in the garden and normal sized people with pointed hats and long robes.

"Aye, I knew we shan't let these un-magical folk into Gandola," muttered an old man wearing a cloak.

"Where am I,"  I asked.

"You're in Gandola honey," A woman in a pointed hat said.

"Where," I asked not under standing.

"She un-magical Serrifina.  Gandola 's where the magical beins' live.  How'd you get 'ere anyway," asked a garden gnome.

"I don't know I tumbled down a hill and then ended up here," I replied.

"Well I guess since she's here we'll greet her like guest," said a little fairy.

"Go on now show 'er, 'er room," said a cloaked man with a long white beard.

"Come this way," said the lady called Serrifina.

"Who are you," I asked.

"I'm a good witch honey.  Fairies, gnomes, dwarfs, ect. live here," Serrifina replied, "If you need anything just whistle."

I liked Serrifina from the start.  She was really nice and helping.  After my first day there I met a lot of nice people.  One night I was walking around the streets and I heard the old man from my first day talking.

"She musn't find the 'Golden Apple'," he said.

"But Coram she's destined to find it.  The prophecy states that a girl will find the apple, and besides she can't go home, because the only way out is magic," said Serrifina's voice.

"How do you know it's her," he asked.

"She might," said Serrifina.

"Well we don't know so we should keep it secret," he said.

I started running until I got to my room.  I wondered what they were talking about.  What was the golden Apple?  What prophecy?  Where?  What's so important about it?  All these questions raced through my head.  I felt determined to find out what this apple was all about.  I put on my cloak and headed to the library to find a book on the golden apple.  I spent the whole night looking through books.  I found tons of books on a golden apple.  The librarian let me check out the books and I went home.  I tucked them under a pile of robes in a dark drawer so no one would find it.  The next day I read through all of the books.  It turns out that the golden apple is magical and will make people magical if they eat it.  It also said it was hidden deep within Dwarf City.  I knew if I got the apple I would be able to go home.  The next day I packed some robes, some shoes, 2 blankets, a pillow, a magical pocket knife/saw/shovel/anything you need to cut with and set off.  The sun beat down on my head as I trudged over treacherous terrain.  I had seen nothing but cactus and tumbleweed for hours.  The sun was still high in the sky when I started to build a shelter.  I found a mound of dirt and started digging.  By the time the sun began to sink I had a nice little cave.  I hung the large blanket on the opening so nothing could get in and fell right asleep.  In the middle of the night I heard voices.

"She's gone," said a deep male voice.

"Gone to pursue her destiny," said Serrifina's voice.

"I give 'er 2 days to live, with the cold, heat, hypothermia, dehydration, creatures and 'specially Madame Irine," said d the man.

"I forgot about Irine.  She's still out there?  Irine will definatly get Madison.  Her selfishness.  She thought she was the girl in the prophecy.  She'll be angry if she isn't," said Serrifina, "Even challenged me to give one reason why she isn't."

"We must keep the Madi girl safe and get 'er to the apple.  Irine musn't fulfill the prophecy.  If Irine does no predictin' what'll happen," said the male.

I heard them walk away and I was left to think.  Who's Irine?  Why does she want the apple?  I slept knowing I had to get it before this Irine girl.  The next day I set off with the feeling that Dwarf City was near by.  Suddenly I was tumbling down, down, down into a dark hole.  Before I knew it I was lying on a stone path.  My body ached from the impact.

"Wha's she doin' 'ere," asked a voice.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a dark cave.

"I asked ye' whats ye' doin' 'ere," said a voice.

I turned my head until I saw a little man.

"I was looking for a golden apple," I replied

"Thee 'Golden Apple'," he asked.

"What," I asked not knowing the difference.

"The magical one," he said.

"Oh, yes," I replied.

"She's the kid me brother Hank was talkin' bout," he said,

Oakland County Treasurer
PO Box 2197, Royal Oak, MI, 48068

Dear Oakland County Treasurer Andy E. Meisner,

I'm a citizen of Oakland County complaining about the lack of snow shovelers there are in my county.

Since there aren't enough snow shovelers in Oakland County when it snows (usually in the morning) some streets don't get shoveled until 8 P.M. at night.

A few times I had to cancel lessons or be late to school because the streets aren't shoveled.  A few months ago it snowed all night till 6 in the morning.  After school I was supposed to go to my singing lessons at 7 P.M. but my singing teacher called and said her street wasn't going to be shoveled until 8 P.M.  So I had to cancel that lesson.

I'm not the only one effected by this.  My math teacher arived late one day.  It was about 10minutes after class was supposed to start and my math teacher still wasn't there.  When she arrived she told us she was late because the roads were too snowy.

I think Oakland County should speed up shoveling by buying more snow shovelers so streets will get shoveled faster.

Thank you for reading this letter and I hope you take my suggestion into consideration.

Sincerely,
Vivian

"Come this way," said the lady called Serrifina.

"Who are you," I asked.

"I'm a good witch honey.  Fairies, gnomes, dwarfs, ect. live here," Serrifina replied, "If you need anything just whistle."

I liked Serrifina from the start.  She was really nice and helping.  After my first day there I met a lot of nice people.  One night I was walking around the streets and I heard the old man from my first day talking.

"She musn't find the 'Golden Apple'," he said.

"But Coram she's destined to find it.  The prophecy states that a girl will find the apple," said Serrifina's voice.

I felt determind to find out what this apple was all about.  I put on my cloak and headed to the library to find a book on the golden apple.

LIFE
Some people have the life of a sparkler,
Short with no use what so ever.
Some lives of people are like fireworks,
They dazzle but are short lasting only a short time.
There are also lives like a candle,
It gives some warmth and light and last a long time.
Life comes in many different forms.
Uncontrollable, useful, useless, long or/and short.
You’ll never know until it’s done.

Compliant Letter

Dear Royal Oak Mayor,

I'm a citizen of Royal Oak complaining about the lack of snow shovelers there are in my county.  Since there aren't enough snow shovelers in Royal Oak when it snows (usually in the morning) some streets don't get shoveled until 8 P.M. I think Royal Oak should either speed up shoveling by buying more snow shovelers so streets will get shoveled faster.  Thank you for reading this letter and I hope you take my suggestion into consideration.

Sincerely,
Vivian

It was 6:30 P.M. on Friday at BCS.  Usually students wouldn't be there but this Friday was the 5/6 Dance.  I had just hung my coat in my locker and was headed to the cafeteria.  I pushed the streamers hanging from the cafeteria entrance and stepped in.  There was loud music blasting through speakers and kids jumping around.  I ran over to the long table that was put at the back of the cafeteria.  The table had snacks, glow sticks and necklaces.  I grabbed two electric green glow sticks and 4 necklaces.  I looked around for my friends and I saw Amelia.  We started dancing and not much later Mia, Jordyn and Megan arrived.  The night was so fun.  My favorite part was the team dance competition.  At the end Amelia did the splits and Jordyn and I were holding Mia up by her feet doing the pyramid.  We danced from 6:30-8:30.  By 8:30 P.M. I was having so much fun I didn't want to leave.  I can't wait for  BCS to have another dance for 5/6.

It was a dark night at the ball.  The men wore their best suits and the women wore various dresses but were all decked in a large amount of jewelry.  Suddenly the lights went out.  Everyone started to panic.  Then the lights came back on.  Someone’s eye caught the red splatters on the wall that spelled, “Beware the Cavile”.  All the women felt around their wrists and necks their jewelry was gone.  I Lindsey and my friend Lilia was amongst the crowd in a flowing deep violet dress.  It suddenly came to mind that I would have to solve this baffling mystery.  My first guess was the men, because there was at least one man standing next to each woman.  I had my body guard check the men and found no jewelry.   I was baffled because there had to be many of them to get all the jewelry that quickly.  I went around to look for clues.  The whole place was getting cleaned by the workers so I decided to dismiss everyone in the room so I could investigate.  I looked around the room.  The criminal must’ve been in the room because the doors are locked from the outside.  I looked down the list of guest until my eyes fell on the name Hans Cavile.  I knew he was the one because of his last name was written on the wall.  But then a question struck me. “Why would he write his own name on the wall?  It would only make it easier to find him.”  I was back to square one.  I took out my kit so I could analyze what the splatters on the walls were made of.  I swabbed the substance and left my computer to do the rest of the work.  I walked around thinking and thinking till I heard a ding.  I went over to my computer and found out the substance was frosting.  The same frosting used in the cakes sitting all around the hall.

“Lilia, find out who has access to the frosting used to decorate the red velvet, chocolate and strawberry cakes,” I asked her.

“On it,” she replied walking to the kitchen.

I thought and thought until Lilia came rushing out.

“The only people that have access to the frosting are the chefs,” she said, “But why would they do this?”

“I don’t know.  Maybe they aren’t paid enough,” I replied.

“I also over heard some of the staff talking about it they said something about ‘strike’ and ‘higher paychecks’,” she informed.

“It all fits together.  The staff is going on strike,” I said.

“But the jewelry,” Lilia said.

“The boss wants more money so he made the staff steal the jewelry.  Of course the staff didn’t want to get caught so they planted decoys like the writing on the wall that will lead us somewhere else.  Going on strike is also a decoy.  They want to look like they’re not paid enough even though they make a lot.  If we find out it’s the townhouse we’ll think it’s the boss not them,” I explained

“Wow, they are really clever,” Lilia replied.

I called the police and gave them all the information.  It minutes I could hear the loud sirens and see the flashing lights.

I lead the chief, Chief Delaroy to the door of the boss’s office and he busted in.

“You’re under arrest Leonard Zoocoft and your staff for theft,” Chief Delaroy bellowed.

Zoocoft was wearing all the stolen jewelry.  Deputy Solo returned all the jewelry and Zoocoft was sentenced for 50 years in prison.

Piano Tips

Piano playing may look easy but it's very complicated because of all the techniques and symbols. A few things that you always have to keep in mind are keep your hands in a shape so that it looks like you're looking at a ball, keep your wrists still and use the tips of your fingers not the pads. The sheet music will tell you where to be loud and soft, what tempo to go at, where to slow down and where to get louder or softer. Most musician read the music just as it is on the sheet music, but the good musicians put their feeling in it. Piano playing is like a painting. When you're painting somthing 1 color you will use different shades. In music if it tells you loud of soft the loundness or softness doesn't have to be even. You need to put feeling in the piano music. When I play piano I try to find out how the composer wanted the people who play it to feel. Like happy, sad, angry. The piano also has 3 pedals. The one on the very right makes the sound hold and last longer. The middle pedal makes any of the keys you're holding down at that time will hold. The one on the very left shifts all the keys over to the right. In piano there are many sybols like cresendo, dimuendo, forte, fortissimo, piano, piansimmo and many more. You should always memorize what they mean or when you play you don't know where to play loud or soft, play slow or fast. All the symbols are important. They tell you how the music should go. Notes in music go A, B, C, D, E, F, G then repeat. Piano is simpler in that way. In piano all the notes are in order. Knowing these key skills piano will be a lot easier.
