Year Round School

Year Round School is a great idea because it will help students academically achieve more.  Most kids would agree that during the summer that they experience burnouts and forget about what they learn about during the school year, so they spend the first few months reviewing what they forgot (Gale Apposing Claim).  That means kids on a traditional calendar won't learn as much during the year because they use a month or 2 to relearn what they already learned but forgot. In Year Round School kids achieve 10.05 math gain, while Traditional only achieves 7.71.  Same with writing, Year Round School achieves 10.52 and Traditional only achieves 8.91 (Statistic Brain).  They achieve more because they experience less knowledge burnouts.  One longitudinal study of six elementary schools, three on traditional calendars and three on year-round schedules, discovered positive effects of year-round education. It found that, in most cases, the sample of students in the year-round schools posted overall test-score increases that were higher than those of their traditionally schooled counterparts (Education Weekly).  So they learn more and will get higher test scores.  Since Year Round School Students academicly achieve more Year Round School is a great idea.
